We’ve Been There Too
HangerOnRs was created by Brian and Laura after years of working in and around healthcare. We have seen the pressure, the exhaustion, the humor, the behind-the-scenes work, and the empty appreciation slogans that do not always match reality.
So we decided to make something more honest.
About HangerOnRs
Our connection to healthcare is personal.
Brian’s background includes working for a national company that refurbished dialysis equipment, then later working in central sterile processing and biomedical services. He has seen the behind-the-scenes work that keeps patient care moving — the equipment, the processing, the repairs, the pressure, and the people who rarely get the spotlight.
Laura began her healthcare journey as a nurse aide, working in behavioral health, an assisted living facility, as an in-home aide, and in labor and delivery/nursery. Later, she spent more than 18 years as an Environmental Health and Safety Manager for a large healthcare facility, first locally and then at a regional/corporate level.
Between us, we have seen healthcare from many sides.
We have seen clinicians carry heavy days. We have seen environmental services teams do work that is essential but too often overlooked. We have seen food and nutrition staff, maintenance teams, sterile processing, biomedical services, aides, techs, nurses, and support staff keep things running when no one is handing out applause.
We have also heard the slogans.
The “healthcare heroes” messaging.
The “we care” campaigns.
The work-life balance talk.
The self-care reminders that sound nice but do not always match the reality of the job.
We know those words can feel empty when the people saying them are not the ones working short-staffed, staying late, answering call bells, cleaning rooms, fixing equipment, turning over beds, handling emergencies, charting after hours, or trying to hold it together through another hard shift.
That is why HangerOnRs exists.
We wanted to create something different — gifts that feel honest, human, useful, and real.
Some of our products are soft and encouraging. Some are funny because humor is often how healthcare workers survive the day. Some are made to say what people are really thinking but may not be able to say out loud.
Our goal is not to cover hard work with fake inspiration.
Our goal is to make products that say:
We see you.
We get it.
We have been there too.
And some days, hanging on still counts.
HangerOnRs is for the people who keep showing up — even when they are tired, overwhelmed, under-thanked, and barely hanging on.
Because healthcare is not held together by slogans.
It is held together by people.
Meet the Rabbit
Our rabbit mascot is the one holding it together with systems — or at least trying to.
The rabbit is competent, organized, kind, and quietly overwhelmed — the one with three perfect lists, a plan for the day, and absolutely no control over the fact that everything is on fire.
The rabbit says what a lot of healthcare workers know too well:
“My plan was excellent. The day disagreed.”
The rabbit represents the heart of HangerOnRs — still trying, still caring, still showing up, and somehow still hanging on.
